Part 3 for memoQ on your own terms
The free March 27th terminology webinar focuses on Regex Tools for Dummies
The image above is from my slide set for the next practical workshop for getting a better handle on terminology challenges with the versatile translation environment memoQ. It’s free to the public, but registration is required. The recording and some resources will be posted to the Substack afterward.
The previous two sessions, their slides and recordings can be found here:
Most of my recent posts and another promised one (still in the works) actually focus on the subject matter for this third presentation. And that will continue to be the case for the next few weeks, because even without dealing with awful regex syntax, conceptually there’s a lot to digest, so some shots aforehand may help with that.
A number of examples for various languages will be posted as Substack Notes, which are not part of the mail broadcasts but which can be read in your browser or the Substack app. Stuff like this Note on those annoying zero-width text gremlins:
As a general rule, I am opposed to people wasting their time learning regular expressions, largely because even those with a strong technical bent usually take a lot of time to do so to any useful degree. But as in the last session, I will talk about some simple things that everyone can use on many occasions like building and saving lists and turning capitalization sensitivity off or on when you want to.
I’ll be presenting and sharing some turnkey tools and walking participants through how these can be adapted for their own work.
And, as always, I’ll do my best to accommodate questions and challenges received in advance and during the Q&A at the end of the presentation.
So…
And…
And if you haven’t already…
